About us

Dev Rishi Educational Society (DRES) was established in 1999 as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with a mission to promote and implement activities aimed at the holistic betterment of society. Over the past 25 years, DRES has been actively contributing to social, educational, health, water, sanitation, and economic development. The organization has undertaken a wide range of initiatives, including training programs, employment facilitation, baseline surveys, project monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment studies, and organizing health camps, career fairs, exhibitions, and awareness programs.

DRES serves as a Key Resource Centre (KRC) for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), supporting departmental training programs across multiple states. Along with other project DRES is currently, implementing a pilot project titled “Creating model WASH villages through Participatory Springshed Management (Source Protection/Rejuvenation) and Long-Term Sustainability of Water Supply Schemes” in the Dehradun and Tehri districts of Uttarakhand. This project covers 175 villages in Dehradun and 325 villages in Tehri, focusing on improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) outcomes.

Project emphasizes restoring natural springs, segregating waste at source, managing household wet waste, converting single pits into twin pits where feasible, treating greywater, and promoting hygiene through VWSCs. WASH initiative aligned with JJM and SBM, it combines community participation, gender inclusive innovative solutions, and sustainable practices to improve public health, protect the environment, and enhance local livelihoods, creating a replicable model for effective and sustainable development.
